Brian Mason

Client Services Director and Tutor

I have been teaching and tutoring across New York City for more than ten years, ever since I began tutoring SATs while attending NYU. What started as a college side job quickly became a career — and a passion — as I discovered how much I love connecting with students, inspiring them to enjoy learning, and helping them recognize and develop their own potential. I have an exceptionally wide range of teaching experiences. I specialize in test preparation, with particular expertise in the SATs, ACTs, APs, Regents, SHSATs, ISEEs, and many other exams, but I have also taught core academic subjects, especially mathematics, from algebra to calculus, as well as English literature, U.S. history, psychology, and much more. My career has also taken me well beyond the traditional classroom: I have spent a semester reading and analyzing Greek classics with kindergarteners and their families, and a summer teaching music to 7th-grade basketball players, to name just a few of the more unusual examples. That breadth of experience has made me especially adaptable. I have worked with people of vastly different ages, abilities, personalities, and learning styles — including extensive experience with neurodivergent students, particularly those on the autism spectrum — and have consistently found ways to help them reach and exceed their goals. I believe this is my greatest strength as an educator: my ability to understand and connect with each individual student and family. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all method, I adapt my approach to each situation. My aim is not simply to help students perform better, but to help them become more confident, capable, and enthusiastic learners.
