Chris Parnell
Test Prep Tutor
I knew from a young age that I wanted to work in science and education. I spent many summer days in science camp growing up. This experience sparked my inspiration to earn my Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from St. John's University and my Master of Science in Organic Chemistry from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. My academic background has given me a deep appreciation for scientific problem-solving, and I enjoy making complex concepts accessible and engaging for students of all learning styles.
I tutor chemistry and SAT preparation, working with students to strengthen both their subject knowledge and their confidence as learners. I believe that tutoring is about more than improving grades or test scores—it's about empowering students to think critically, become independent learners, and develop the skills they need for long-term success. I strive to create a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes, and challenging themselves to grow.
Seeing students gain confidence, master difficult material, and achieve their goals is what inspires me most. Whether I'm helping someone prepare for the SAT or guiding them through challenging chemistry concepts, my goal is to make learning meaningful, engaging, and rewarding while equipping students with the tools they need to succeed far beyond the classroom.
In my personal time, I enjoy traveling, all water-related sports and activities, and bringing my dog around town for attention.
