Academic Tutor

I was born in upstate New York and my family moved around a lot when I was very young until we planted roots on Long Island when I was 5. I am a graduate of Calhoun High School and journeyed back upstate to SUNY Plattsburgh which is where I was born. I fell in love with tutoring when I was asked to be a teacher’s assistant for an Economics course. All my friends told me that I should definitely accept it because that would be an “Easy A”. I embraced being a teacher’s assistant and tutoring students and making review sheets before all the tests, going above and beyond what was asked of me. I really enjoyed the hard work I put into being a teacher’s assistant. Helping students achieve really provided a deep personal satisfaction for me. I did earn an Easy A(lol) on my way to graduating valedictorian from the Business school and also graduating Summa Cum Laude. Shortly after graduating, I came upon an advertisement in the NY Times (yes I’m old school) for Testtakers. I enjoyed tutoring so much in college that it was a natural fit. I have over 25 years of experience guiding students through every iteration of the SAT, adapting my methods to match the evolving landscape of standardized testing. In addition to working directly with students, I have mentored and trained dozens of educators-many of whom were once my own Testtakers students. My daughter is also a former Testtakers student and will be graduating from college this year after only 3 years and is on to graduate school. I have completed the Long Island Marathon and still stay active bicycling most of the year. During the summer months you can catch me biking down to the beach to play a round of mini-golf or catching a show at the Jones Beach Bandshell.
