As a child of immigrants, I was always told, "Education will set you free." It was with this mantra in mind that I actively pursued opportunities to learn. In high school, I was the nerd who didn't have a lunch period so I could take extra AP classes. I went on to complete my undergraduate studies at the University of Rhode Island, using all those AP classes I took to earn both a BS in Applied Economics and a BA in Italian Studies in just two years. During that time, I studied abroad in Calabria, Italy, which inspired me to deepen both my practice and perspective by traveling the world, which I got to do further as I attended grad school at the London School of Economics and Peking University in Beijing. My desire to shape the next generation of learners called me home to Long Island, though, where I went on to earn my master’s degree in teaching from Stony Brook University. My teaching philosophy is grounded in the belief that every student is capable of success when given the right tools, support, and encouragement. I strive to create an environment where learners feel understood, capable, and willing to take intellectual risks. Whether I’m helping a student craft a thoughtful essay, break down a complex concept, or build foundational skills, my goal is always to empower them to recognize their own potential. I love working 1-on-1 with students and getting to partake in those moments when something “clicks”: when confidence grows, curiosity sparks, and students begin to trust their abilities. Outside the classroom, I enjoy traveling, trying new recipes and restaurants, learning languages, and watching sports (though it's a rough life as a NY sports fan). I can quote you Dante's Divine Comedy, the Paw Patrol Theme Song, and most classic rom coms. I am always excited for a book or show recommendation, and I love to learn more from my students!
