Test Prep Tutor
I graduated from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Education Studies and a minor in Psychology, earning Phi Beta Kappa honors. My academic background is matched by a breadth of real classroom experience spanning early childhood through high school, in both public and independent school settings. I have worn many hats as an educator: I taught 1st grade Mandarin to young learners, delivered 8th grade Earth Science curriculum through AmeriCorps Breakthrough Collaborative, provided individualized math instruction in Title I NYC public schools, and served as a Teaching Assistant at NYU supporting college students in data analysis and statistics. That range, from a 4-year-old learning their first Mandarin characters to a university student navigating statistical software, reflects my genuine versatility and my belief that every learner deserves instruction tailored to where they are. In addition to teaching both the SAT and ACT, I also support students in Biology and Statistics. I've always enjoyed supporting students in Biology because the curriculum is grounded in real-life, practical applications. The same can be said for Statistics. Many students find Stats counterintuitive, but when diving deeper, they'll find it much more practical and applicable to their day-to-day lives
I believe great teaching lies in the details: clear explanations, scaffolded support, and the patience to meet each student at their level. Whether I am designing a curriculum from scratch, adjusting my approach based on student feedback, or breaking down a tricky concept step by step, my goal is always the same: to build both skill and confidence in the students I work with. Outside of the classroom, I am bilingual in English and Mandarin, and bring a research mindset to everything I do, including my current work supporting the development of an academic book manuscript at NYU. In my freetime, you'll find me on the badminton court or trading volleys on the ping pong table.
