Thomas Shuman

"I was born and raised in Western Massachusetts before traveling to Washington, DC to attend Georgetown University. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in Political Science, Theater, and Arabic. While at Georgetown, I started SAT Tutoring with Test Takers' sister company, Capital Educators. What started as a job quickly became a passion for helping my students open doors to futures they weren't sure were possible. Growing up, I was lucky enough to attend incredible private schools that had state-of-the-art teachers and facilities. These instructors met every student where they were at and helped me grow as both a student and as a person. They nourished a love of literature, history, and storytelling that have stayed with me until today. As I taught more and saw my students accepted into Ivy League schools and were able to pursue their dreams, I came to appreciate the lasting good that an effective SAT Tutor can do. So when I moved to New York to pursue my career as an actor, I decided to continue that work with Test Takers and help students find success on the SAT and ACT through COVID and the move to a Digital SAT. I've found that, with hard work and guided preparation, every student is capable of making meaningful progress towards their goal scores and, as a result, their dreams of a life beyond the SAT. When I am not tutoring, I love to cook, play music, and spend time with my clingy cat, Jiji.
