Test Prep Tutor
I was born and raised in Queens; my parents immigrated from Shanghai and Hefei. I'm a native Mandarin speaker, so I welcome working with families who need multilingual support.
Growing up organizing with local Asian American nonprofits sparked my interest in exploring the experiences and histories of Asian communities in the US. I'm particularly drawn to how storytelling serves as a lens into what makes humans human. This passion led me to graduate from Haverford College with a Major in Anthropology and a Minor in Asian American Studies. While these research interests remain a joy of mine, these days I'm primarily focused on K-12 classroom teaching and one-on-one tutoring.
My goal is to equip my students with the insights and standardized test-taking skills they need to hit the scores they're aiming for. Together, we'll assess your strengths and weaknesses and build a game plan to help you reach your full potential.
At the end of the day, I believe great learners aren't defined by their grades, but by how thoughtfully they engage with the world around them. So, I strive to help my students not only score higher, but learn to think and move through their lives with curiosity and empathy. How can you connect new learnings to what you already know? How can you relate to others across difference? How can you take what you learn in the classroom and use it to make the world a little better?
Outside of teaching, I volunteer with local AAPI youth advocacy spaces, including the Localized History Project—an initiative to create New York's first-ever official Asian American Studies curriculum, authored by and for youth. I highly encourage checking them out!
In my free time, I enjoy weightlifting, trying new restaurants and cuisines, and cuddling with my four cats Mochi, Jupiter, Huahua, and Heihei.
